About me

I’m João Galhardo. I have run holiday rentals on and off for more than ten years, and I have worked in hotels and restaurants since my university days.

With that much time in the field, I am at ease with almost everything a house and hospitality involve: the building works, the team, the guests and the numbers.

In a holiday rental almost everything is connected. The works change the photos, the photos change the price, the price changes the team you need. Someone who handles all of it sees those links, which is why I work on the whole house, not just one part.

My path

  1. University

    My grandfather’s rental

    While studying business management, I ran my grandfather’s seasonal accommodation, and worked seasons in restaurants on the side.

  2. 2013

    Restaurants in the UK

    From waiter to general manager, leading teams of up to 93 people in a group’s flagship restaurant. Three years with the Jamie Oliver restaurant group, and time at Bill’s, Strada and Coppa Club.

  3. 2019

    A hotel in Monte Gordo

    About three years as F&B Manager at The Prime Energize, in daily contact with the whole hotel operation.

  4. 2022

    Quinta da Capelinha

    I came in as the IT consultant and stayed on as manager, to open it and get it running. Since then I have also developed the new houses of Livin Stays Algarve.

  5. Today

    Freelance

    I set up Miradouro da Penha, and I put this experience to work for other owners, with Galhardo.Cloud as my IT department.

How I think about a rental

I look at the property as a whole and make plans to invest in it and get the most out of it, always with the return on investment in front.

I protect the interests of everyone involved: guests, owners, partners and the people who provide services to the house. And what I propose always has a strong practical side, so the operation lasts.

Who works with me

Gisela has been my assistant for three years, working remotely: she handles admin and guest messages, and she can do the same for your rental.

I set up the operations automation myself; custom software, websites and AI agents come from Galhardo.Cloud, my IT department.
